Above the Garage

We are on our way to Bluffton, SC, about 25 miles north of Savannah, GA and have chosen a place to stay from Airbnb. Our criteria has been price (trying to be frugal as it’s a long, long journey…), proximity to places we want to see or even just pass through and, lastly, the originality of the type of housing. We’ve seen places for rent such as lighthouses, stationary trains, yurts and adorable little houses on the waterways. (We did pass on the ‘cozy apartment above a shop’…oh please…I have my standards!)

So, today we are heading towards Bluffton, to a place that was labeled a ‘carriage house'. The price was right and the pictures looked quaint. Imagine my surprise when, a few miles out, I read some reviews and they said something about “above the garage”. Truly, I started to hyperventilate!   We have already paid, too! My quite frazzled words to Michael were  “Michael did you know this place is on top of a garage?” His response was “so?”  (totally expected)!
“Michael after 11 years of marriage you should know I DON’T DO ‘ON TOP OF GARAGES’!”
No choice…I must go forward with this, we are almost there…. but I am not happy!!!!!!!!!!

 This is what we found…

Hmmm...

Uh Oh!

Lesson learned!

(maybe I should be checking out the ‘cozy apartment above the shop’)

  1. I guess you do not remember my apartment above a garage in N.O. for $30 a month and Ed and I split that.

  2. Lovely is right! The muffins and the basket of fresh fruit are such a nice touch. Have a glass of wine or breakfast on the patio. Enjoy!

  3. Janice, great minds think alike. Each morning I have taken my tea and art magazine down to the patio. It's also a butterfly garden with herbs growing all around. Such a nice way to start the day!
